Strategic Growth And Development Of The UNCCD Towards 2044

Taking inspiration from the novel ” the Ministry of the Future” by Kim Stanley robinson, UNCCD staff was invited to join this workshop on 28th February to explore scenarios for growth and development for the UNCCD. The workshop presented survey findings and validated qualitative data on the UNCCD’s organisational dynamics. Based on these findings, shaped in a SWOT analysis, we explore organisational implications for three development scenarios:

1. Agility to stay responsive in policy and practice
2. A Rio perspective: land as an integrative issue for UNFCCC and CBD
3. Growing a global action network as a resilience movement

Questions like How do these scenarios affect required staff competencies? What does it need in terms of learning, knowledge and data management? What are the implications for work processes and collaboration? produced a lively discussion!
